Running a center well is not easy. On the other hand, it isn’t impossible either if certain rules are followed. However, some of the tools that are critical to improve operating efficiency are just not available. For example, software that is used in the industry could be better at providing actionable data and not just static data. Such software could help with operational efficiency, human resources management, and many other processes. Many tasks are still done manually and there is no software that helps with that either.
Our goal, over the next several years, is to look at these operational issues, deconstruct steps, and analyze how centers can run more efficiently and try to provide insight into what tools need to be developed.
Of course, no discussion of childcare is complete without considering Human Resource Management. There are many aspects of HR management in this industry that could be improved. We are also looking at these and will, over the next several years, provide insight into how we can improve some of the issues with recruitment, training, evaluation, and retention. How these can be made more efficient ad automated will also be our focus over the next few years.
But all long journeys begin with baby steps. Our first task has been to remove a hurdle that is simple but pervasive. Currently, to get teachers/assistants to start at your center requires a medical. But it can take forever to get into the doctor’s office. We are now providing this service within a few days and for a very affordable price. This is our first step in a long journey! But stay tuned – there are more exciting things to come!
